How Should I Perform a Gage R&R on My Hardness Tester

Because hardness tests made with the Rockwell, Brinell, and Microhardness methods are destructive, A traditional G.R.&R. test does not give the same types of results as a dimensional test.

Each location that is measured can vary from the location right next to it. And once a location is measured it cannot be measured again to prove repeatability.

We recommend checking your testers according to the ASTM methods. Only quality hardness test blocks should be used for these tests.
