What Does Top Loading Mean

Top Loading: Both major and minor loads are applied on the down stroke of the tester.

Competitive machines apply the minor load from the bottom utilizing the elevating screw to generate the force. Top loading enables us to leave the part in a stationary position, and to bring the indenter down to the part to apply both the major and minor loads.

This means that for repetitive testing the operator only needs to remove and replace the part, without adjusting the elevating screw with each cycle. This, along with the Versitron Rockwell testers' extremely fast test cycle makes it the most productive machine on the market.
